We had fun learning about China .  We did some silk painting, and made Chinese lanterns, fans, kites, yoyos and dragons.  We produced Chinese “writing” using printing blocks.  Best of all we enjoyed tasting Chinese food, and although we tried using chopsticks, we found forks and spoons quicker!!

We’ve been learning about animals and we all enjoyed stroking six little kittens who came to visit us.  We’ve also been out to see birds and fish at local garden centres, and have watched tadpoles, swans, ducks, and geese with their babies.  We dug in the school garden and found some big fat worms to come and stay for a week in the wormery we made for them.  We could see where they’d moved around the wormery, but they were very good at hiding from us!!

With our theme this term being “Outside”, we’ve made the most of the weather to visit a variety of local parks and gardens. We’ve also planted some beans which have grown nicely in our new little garden patch. We enjoyed flying kites on a windy afternoon and subsequently made our own which fluttered well. We’ve also made windmills and mobiles to decorate our playground.

We had fun taking part in “Sing Up” where we made music together along with some friends from Herons’ Moor, some of us singing and others using communication aids. We’ve fitted in two day visits this term, one spent on the Willow Trust’s boat cruising along the canal, and the other learning about animals at Puxton Park . We’ve been so busy enjoying ourselves that the term has just flown by!
